Privacy policy

Draft for legal review. This describes how the app works today. Have it checked against the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and your actual data flows before launch.
The short version
- Your location is shared only with people in your circle, and only when you choose: a timed share, a Safe Walk or an SOS.
- We never sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
- Lost & found chats stay inside the app, so strangers never see your number.
- You can download or delete your data at any time from settings.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number, email address and profile photo.
- Location: while you’re using the app, to show nearby hazards and items. In the background only during a Safe Walk, a timed share or an SOS you started.
- Your circle: who you’ve invited and whose circles you’ve joined.
- Reports you post: lost and found items, hazards and fraud reports, including photos and the place and time you give.
- Messages you send in the app.
- Device and usage data: device model, OS version, crash reports and sign-in history, used to keep your account secure.
How we use it
To run the features you use: alerting your circle, matching lost and found items, warning you about nearby hazards and scams, and keeping your account secure. We send service emails about your account, and news emails only if you’ve opted in.
Who can see what
Your circle sees your location only while you’re sharing it. Other people see your public reports, such as a found item or a hazard, with your first name, but never your exact home address or phone number.
Our service providers process data for us under contract. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Location history is kept for a limited period and then deleted. Reports stay up until you close them or they expire. When you delete your account, your data is deleted after a 30-day grace period, except anything the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can see, correct, download or delete your data from the app’s settings, withdraw consent for optional processing, and nominate someone to act for you. For anything else, write to privacy@siaiz.io. We reply within 30 days.
Children
Lost Circle is for people aged 18 and over. Younger family members can be added to a circle only with a parent or guardian’s consent.
